Weikel Family Photoshoot at Old Poway Park
A few weeks ago I did a family photoshoot for the Weikel family at Old Poway Park. I love how photography is bringing me to places I wouldn’t normally go, because this park was beautiful! This family shoot was actually several different families – a grandma and grandpa, their two kids and spouses, and the two grandchildren. I was a little nervous going into this shoot that an hour wouldn’t be enough time to capture everyone, so I originally scheduled them for two hours. We ended up stopping the shoot at 1 hour because the kids (and the husbands) were getting a little fussy and I think at that point we had plenty of great photos to choose from.
This family requested a location anywhere outdoors where a lot of walking wouldn’t be required, because the grandpa had just gone through a hip replacement surgery. I ended up reaching out to the local San Diego photographers group on Facebook and got so many great suggestions for places to go, and Old Poway Park was on that list many times. The central part of the park consists of a huge gazebo surrounded by trees and greenery. There’s a small train with a cute little station that can take you all around the park, and there are a couple of really pretty bridges that are perfect for photos.
I hope you enjoy these photos as much as I enjoyed taking them!
