Gerodimos Family Photoshoot at the Scripps Memorial Pier
I have been wanting to shoot at the Ellen Browning Scripps Memorial Pier since I started this business adventure, and I finally made it there a few weeks ago! Prior to this day, the only time I had seen this pier was during a walk on the beach with my husband and dog, not paying attention to crowds or other photographers. It can get pretty crowded with families and couples getting their photos done so I was nervous about actually getting time underneath the pier.
Once I arrived, the crowd was still pretty small and I only had 3-4 other photographers competing for the perfect angles. Wandering around the area was fun because while the beach itself just looks flat and boring, there are so many little things that make it interesting. We climbed back off the beach up above the pier and found a beautiful scenic outlook complete with benches and perfect ocean views. Towards the end of the shoot, we noticed the sunset was really beautiful, throwing pinks and oranges all throughout the sky, so we raced back down to the beach to catch some final photos of the sunset near the water.
There was quite a bit of Photoshop magic involved in these to get rid of people in the backgrounds. I’m still pretty novice at Photoshop and I’m much more experienced in editing photos in Lightroom. I definitely feel like I’m learning a lot and I’m excited to keep going!
I hope you enjoy this shoot of the Gerodimos family at the Scripps Memorial Pier!
